Sometimes, letting go is your only choice
Life is not always that neat. And sometimes, letting go is your only choice. It's been two years since I started this blog. This journey, like all the journeys I have taken before, has not been easy.
So much of my life's journey has been around finding my way in this world: creating and releasing and recreating a lifestyle that enables me to bring my best to the world.
Even though this blog is about money, at the very core of my message is your well-being and everything that is truly important to you - all designed in a lifestyle that gives you the support and financial freedom you deserve.
I remember, six years ago when I decided to quit my full-time job to regroup and pursue a new dream. I quickly learned that my plans where not going to materialise as I had envisioned. I had to make a decision between pursuing purpose or money. By tying a monetary value to my purpose, I felt like I was making a travesty out of it. I hated being caught in a situation where I had to keep thinking about money, when I was pursuing something much higher in value than that. I felt really frustrated.
I was so disappointed when I realised that there were so many things standing between my goal and me. For money to be the single pressing concern as I pursued my purpose — it was a bitter irony. Instead of focusing on living my purpose and letting the money flow in its own time and space, I felt the pressure to identify ways to earn money through it.

When I came to the end of my rope, I knew I had to make a decision: either continue with this fruitless pursuit or relinquish the control of it. It wasn't an easy choice. But I knew I had to relinquish control over this dream. For the past five years, I have had to deal with the areas of my life that have been scarred. The old disappointments that I had buried deep inside also showed up. I had to grieve.Release and let go. Some of these moments have been so powerful: sometimes deep sadness and other times deep healing and unconditional love and hope.I'm grateful for the opportunity to heal, to move forward, to feel lighter, freer, and more whole.
What I know for sure is this: I want to empower women to create more honest, gentle, and loving relationships with themselves and their money. But I knew I had to relinquish control over this dream.
We all experiences disappointments. It can feel incredibly frustrating and painful to discover you spent years expecting to do certain things but end up being limited by a lack of money or resources.
As you read this, maybe you are disappointed with your career and this part of your life has become a painful source of hurt and self-loathing. Maybe your are in debt up to your eyeballs, you can barely take care of yourself. Maybe your business has tanked and you are feeling lost.
Whatever it is you are dealing with right now, if you are unable to breathe, it's time to let go. If we aren’t willing to make the hard decisions ourselves, things tend to happen that force us to make those changes.
Our resistance to change creates so much of the pain we experience in life. But life is fluid. Our ability to find creative ways in the journey is directly correlated to how willing we are to let go and go with the flow.

Healing from your disappointment isn’t something I can easily put into steps; something that I can just wish away. Adjusting your expectations can help, and talking with a loved one or a professional can help. So, reflect on your past but look forward to a brighter future. You are a living, breathing, powerful creative, and divine being who is capable of changing your situation. Remain resilient through failure and persistent through obstacles. Stop blaming yourself for your past mistakes. Stop blaming everyone else for the mistakes. There is no reason to blame.
As a woman who has faced many disappointments in life, both personally and financially, all I can tell you is that after spending years being angry at myself, this is what I know for sure: I did the best that I could with the information that I had at the time and so did you.
How about you? What are you willing to let go of this year?
