What’s the area like?
Are there any other similar properties in the area for sale and what are their asking prices?
What is included in the price? For example, curtains, carpets, cooker and other appliances.
How flexible is the seller on the asking price?
How long has the property been on the market?
Why is the seller selling?
Are they keen to get a quick sale?
Has there been much interest in the property?
When was the property built?
Has the property been altered in any way? For example, kitchen extension, attic conversion.
Has the roof been repaired or replaced since the property was built?
Have any of the rooms been decorated recently? If so, why?
What improvements do you need to make?
Is the property insulated?
What kind of parking is available?
Are there any proposed developments in the area?
How much is the property tax? And how much are utility bills?
While the answers might scare you off or make you rethink your bid, they could make you feel more confident that you're making the right move on the right house.
